Masterpiece!Fontenille Pataud, a high-end manufacturer of fine cutlery since 1929, is based in Thiers, France. All work steps are carried out by hand by one cutler. The Laguiole sport knife was designed together with Robert Beillonnet (M.O.F. 1997 and 2000). The robust pocket knife is perfect for anyone looking for a wide and solid blade. This Sport Laguiole knife is from far the best large Laguiole locking blade of the market. Its solid 3.50 mm thick blade is safely locked while using, thanks to its precision mechanism. The sharp blade is made from stainless 14C28N Sandvik steel. It keeps its edge and is easy to resharpen. The finish of the Laguiole knife is sandblasted. The delicate runes on the blade spell out the word ‘FENRIR’ – named after the legendary giant wolf of Norse mythology. In the ancient sagas, Fenrir symbolises unbridled primal power and absolute independence. This symbolism could not be more fitting for this exclusive special edition of our Fontenille Pataud Sport: it combines the untamed energy of the myth with the masterful elegance and robust precision of French blacksmithing. A true masterpiece for connoisseurs, embodying both strength and tradition.Tank you to the cuttler Adrien! The item comes with a handmade leather sheath and a numbered manufactory certificate. Névé with horn tip handle scales and a stainless stonewashed blade A handcrafted gentleman’s pocket knife, made in the workshop of Tim Bernard, owner of Atelier NÉVÉ in Thiers. The handle scales of this pocket knife are crafted from the solid tip of the zebu horn. Highly prized in premium craftsmanship, this natural material not only provides exceptional durability but also turns the knife into a sophisticated, unique piece thanks to its unique grain. The liners feature a finely hammered, matte finish – a detail that requires great skill and time to achieve. The spacer is simply guillochéed, adding a subtle touch of refinement. Completing the elegant design is a matte stonewashed blade made of 14C28N stainless steel – known for its excellent edge retention, corrosion resistance, and ease of sharpening.Tim Bernard created the Névé in 2015 on the occasion of the competition of the Institut National des métiers d'art at the end of his training. He comes from the Hautes Alpes (05) and wanted to design a knife with a fluid and lively shape that resembles Alpine rivers ...Tim describes it as great luck to have been trained by Manu Laplace 1515. Three knife makers – a brief introduction
Benjamin Laraud
In 2014, Benjamin Laraud came to Thiers to learn knife making from scratch. After working for GDD and Fontenille Pataud, he founded his brand Laraud Blades in 2023.
His first model, the L'Oegopsyde, is sleek, elegant and fluid like an octopus in motion. This was followed by the MagnaPinna, a slip joint knife with a smooth, rounded shape. Both knives are handmade and bear Benjamin's distinctive signature.
Tim Bernard - Atelier Névé
Tim Bernard founded Atelier Névé in 2015 following a competition organised by the Institut National des métiers d’art at the end of his training. Born in the Hautes-Alpes region (05), he wanted to design a knife with a flowing and lively shape, reminiscent of Alpine rivers …
Tim considers himself very fortunate to have been trained by Manu Laplace, owner of Atelier1515.
The skills he learnt there and the expertise he honed guarantee high-quality products, crafted with passion and care. Since November 2016, Tim Bernard has been working independently as a cutler in Thiers. His first creation was the Névé pocket knife. This was followed shortly afterwards by the GYR model.
Roland Lannier
In 2014, Roland Lannier left the Perceval forge and opened his own workshop in Thiers. His first model, ‘Why so serious’, immediately won a talent award.
This was followed by the Heeled Jack, an elegant slip joint knife. Roland Lannier also produces handmade table knives that are highly regarded in top-class gastronomy – each with distinctive handle materials and a personal touch.
Pierre Thomas - Atelier Ôdae
Pierre Thomas, born in Périgord in 1991, brought his knife-making craft to Thiers. There, he worked at renowned workshops such as Perceval before founding his own studio, “Ôdae,” in 2017.
His work is characterized by the utmost precision, exceptional craftsmanship, and an uncompromising commitment to quality.
His outstanding creation, “Le Passager,” is the result of more than six months of intensive development and is an elegant, beautifully designed knife that is hard to put down. He later expanded his collection to include additional pocket knives, such as the Philéas.
