Didier Lascombe's knife maker Coutellerie Le Camarguais is based in Bezouce, in the Gard department, in the northern Camargue. Originally from Thiers, Lascombe realised his dream of creating the first Le Camarguais in 1992. This characteristic pocket knife was developed to provide the Gardians on horseback with a practical tool. Protected in 1993, the Camarguais knives are precisely handcrafted from local materials. They are embossed with the La Croix de Camargue/Camargue cross on the bolsters, symbolising faith, hope and love.
