Mineral deposits bring out the beautiful pattern. The last great mammoths became extinct only 8,000 to 10,000 years ago.The colouring varies naturally. Today, mammoth ivory, molars and mammoth bones are found primarily on the Siberian Arctic coast. Export is only permitted following a scientific assessment and with the appropriate licence. However, mammoth ivory is not subject to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species and may be traded freely. The material’s beautiful structure and elegant lustre are unique.
