NINO NISTA Italien
Nino Nista Italy
The forge of Giovanni Nista, better known as "Nino", was created in 1990 by reproducing three traditional Italian knives. He learnt the basics of blacksmithing from Odorico Lucantoni, who designed the famous "pescatore" for fishermen on the Adriatic, which is mainly associated with the city of Ancona, although it is widely used in Abruzzo.
The "Pescatore" is also the knife that Nino makes most often. Previously, he improved his skills in designing various models of his own, but now forges regional knives such as the Romano and the Siciliani faithfully following the ancient model in order to preserve the traditional shapes.
The forge is located in San Benedetto del Tronto in the Marche region. In his shop, which is divided into a salesroom and a workshop, you can admire various beautifully handcrafted individual pieces. The perfection of the finished knife is guaranteed by the selection of the best materials and the fact that it is made entirely by hand.
