Exclusive collector’s knife – mammoth ivory with scrimshaw engraving by Charles Paraboz, featuring a hand-forged mosaic damask blade
The handle scales of this unique masterpiece are crafted from mammoth ivory. They have been embellished using the scrimshaw technique by Charles Paraboz, a renowned tattoo artist from Thiers. The design depicts Amaterasu, the sun goddess, and Tsukuyomi, the moon god from Shinto mythology.
This extraordinary handle is complemented by a blade and bolsters made from hand-forged mosaic damask, through which Benjamin Laraud seeks to depict the starry sky. By designing a background studded with stars, he has embedded the deities within their mythological context.
The L’Oegopsyde is a handcrafted liner-lock pocket knife from the workshop of Benjamin Laraud (Laraud Blades) in Thiers, the heart of French knife-making.
It combines sleek lines, balanced proportions and the finest materials to create a stylish gentleman’s knife with character.
The dynamic lines are reminiscent of the movement of an octopus, hence the name Oegopsyde. The design is minimalist and clean. The liners have been decorated by hand.
The knife locks securely and reliably via a liner lock mechanism.

Laraud Blades
Benjamin Laurad kam 2014 nach Thiers, um das Messermachen von Grund auf zu lernen. Nach der Ausbildung im CRT-Atelier arbeitete er bei GDD und später bei Fontenille Pataud – doch irgendwann wurde ihm klar: Er will mehr. Er wolle eigene Ideen umsetzen, mit meinen Händen etwas erschaffen, das wirklich seines ist.
So entstand Anfang 2023 Laraud Blades – und sein erstes eigenes Modell: L’Oegopsyde. Schlank, elegant, zurückhaltend. Ein Messer mit Charakter. Der Name? Eine kleine Hommage – ein Freund meinte beim Entwurf, es sehe aus wie ein Tintenfisch, der sich durchs Wasser bewegt.
Heute ist das Oegopsyde sein Herzstück. Und der Anfang von vielem, was noch kommt.
