A unique piece from the Laguiole en Aubrac forge – solid handle scales made from fossilised mammoth ivory
Intricately crafted Laguiole knives with solid handle scales made from rare mammoth ivory crust. The fossilised material is between 10,000 and 60,000 years old and comes from the mammoth’s tusk.
This exquisite one-of-a-kind piece stands out thanks to its particularly expressive bee motif. The handle has been finished with intricate, delicate filing work.
A particular eye-catcher is the hand-crafted Damascus blade made from torsion Damascus (twisted Damascus). It is finely ground and perfectly centred. Laguiole en Aubrac is one of the few forges that still forges by hand. These fine blades are crafted in a small mountain village near Espallion.
The blade should be maintained with a little Balistol or a similar product, as it is made of non-stainless steel.
