Fontenille Pataud 5 Coqs knife poplar burlwood

Description

5 Coqs: French tradition with a modern twist The 5 Cockerels

5 Coqs combines the charming shape of a traditional French pocket knife with modern functionality.

Inspired by the classic Yssingeaux knife from the Auvergne, the historic design has been given a contemporary reinterpretation.

The knife owes its unusual name to the town of Yssingeaux: in the local dialect, ‘Sin’ means five and ‘Jo’ means cockerel – ‘5 Coqs’, meaning 5 cockerels. The cockerel, a French national symbol, features as a charming detail on the back of the handle.

The knife also impresses functionally with a smooth-operating opening mechanism and a secure lockback mechanism. To close it, simply press the crest of the little cockerel – a charming detail that combines tradition and function in a special way.

The bee is forged and decorated with a mother-of-pearl inlay. The guard is adorned with fine filing work. A characterful French pocket knife that combines regional history, traditional design and modern technology to create a truly special companion.

It is crafted entirely by hand. The blade is made from 14C28N stainless steel – renowned for its edge retention. It is very easy to sharpen.
